Apr 2021: Treasure Hunt

Updated: Apr 28, 2021

by Veronika Volfova, PenBuddies Project Volunteer

Our session on the 25th of April will be at 12 pm GMT.

Have you ever wondered why is Easter celebrated on a different day each year?

The exact Easter day actually depends on the moon. The holiday is set to be the first Sunday after the Paschal full moon which is the first full moon in spring. Easter is celebrating Christ's return from the grave. And the reason why we follow this system is that Christ’s death happened after the Jewish holiday. Jewish calendars follow solar and lunar cycles so the dates fluctuate every year.

In our session, we will be talking about the traditions during Easter time, "hunting for treasures" - the knowledge and customs from different countries.
