Have you been to our last session about poetry?

Do you know why do we write poetry?

We write poetry to tell an interesting story it is a way of communication and expressing our feelings. Poetry can take you through the emotion and the experiences which the author went through.

We learnt about different types of poems and what are the differences between them. We also read poems in different languages.

Here is the first bit of a poem from the Czech Republic I really like.

Byl pozdní večer – první máj –

večerní máj – byl lásky čas.

Hrdliččin zval ku lásce hlas,

kde borový zaváněl háj.

Late evening, on the first of May—

The twilit May—the time of love.

Meltingly called the turtle-dove,

Where rich and sweet pinewoods lay.

This poem is very old and long and it is about love. I first read this poem when I was very young and I really liked it.
