Who are the Superheroes? Which is your favourite one? What do you know about Superheroes in different countries? Those were the topics we discussed with our Pen Buddies participants during our virtual session on the 18th of October 2020.
We were joined by the children from England, Russia, Vietnam, Nigeria. As always, we learnt from each other and had lots of fun. From the heroes of antiquity - Hercules, Achilles and Samson, we "travelled" to the medieval times to learn about Russian Epic Knights, then to the 20th century to discover Zorro and Mandrake the Magician, and then shared who are our favourite Comics' Superheroes. We have also learnt about Mulan and Guan Yu from China, Thanh Giong from Vietnam, Nanny of the Maroons from Jamaica. Huge thanks to all our volunteers, Catherine, Tram and Julie, who shared their knowledge with the children.
In the end of the session we all enjoyed our usual Quiz time and "5 minutes crafting", making Superheroes masks, using paper plates and face masks. Aren't they cute?
One of our PenBuddies, Matvey from Moscow, presented a lovely story about his own superheroes, animation creators. He described how he draws his heroes first and then uses special software to animate them. You can find his works at YouTube channel here
