🎉 Celebrating Chinese New Year 2026 in Boscombe: A Decade of Culture, Community & Connection

The vibrant spirit of the Chinese New Year spectacularly returned to Boscombe this year, as the Wisdom (Zhihui) Foundation proudly continued its long-standing tradition of bringing cultural celebration to the heart of the community (under the name of Bournemouth Chinese School) with Coastal BID and the Chinese Association of Southampton.

Held at the Boscombe Sovereign Shopping Centre and supported by Coastal BID, the 2026 celebration marked yet another milestone in a journey that began in 2016. Over the past decade, this event has grown into a beloved community festival, one that bridges cultures, generations, and stories through shared experiences.

🏮 A Festival Rooted in Community

This year’s celebration was co-organised in collaboration with the Chinese Association of Southampton, reinforcing a shared commitment to promoting cultural understanding and inclusivity across the South Coast. Families, shoppers, and visitors were welcomed into a festive atmosphere filled with colour, music, and tradition. From the symbolic decorations to the lively performances, the event created a space where heritage could be both celebrated and experienced firsthand. More than just a festival, it was a reminder of how cultural events can bring people together, fostering unity while celebrating diversity.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the return of our long-time creative partners, Aerial Fitness, whose performances have become a signature element of the event over the years. Audiences were mesmerised by a stunning lineup of aerial acts, including:

• Flying Pole

These performances brought a contemporary artistic edge to the traditional festivities, blending strength, elegance, and storytelling in mid-air. Their presence not only elevated the visual spectacle but also reflected the evolving nature of cultural expression within modern community celebrations.

🧧 A Decade of Impact

Returning to Boscombe feels like coming home.

Since 2016, the Wisdom (Zhihui) Foundation has been part of this community festival, building lasting relationships with local partners, performers, and audiences. This continuity has allowed the event to grow organically while staying true to its mission, making culture accessible, engaging, and meaningful for all.

The 2026 celebration stands as a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration, consistency, and a shared passion for community enrichment. As we reflect on another successful celebration, we remain committed to continuing this journey, bringing cultures closer, inspiring younger generations, and creating spaces where diversity is not just acknowledged but celebrated.

We are also looking forward to the new leadership from our newly appointed Chairlady, Ms Vikkie Cheng, who has contributed her time and service to the local community for more than a decade with various charities in the United Kingdom.
