Course conducted by ETC International College Session 1: (1 hour) • Introduction to poetry: • What is Poetry? • Purpose of Poetry • Many Different Styles of Poetry – Brief introduction to “The Duplex”, “Villanelle”, “Ode”, “Haiku”, “Sonnet”, “Pantoum” and “Limericks”, “Free Verse”, “Ekphrastic” and “Shape Poem”, “Anaphora”, “Acrostic” and “Golden Shovel” • Look into the “Acrostic” style • Activities and exercises on how to write in Acrostic style • Introducing Fun facts on Rhymes: a special slang in the UK - Cockney Rhyming Slang Session 2: (1 hour) • Look into the “Free Verse” style and its origins • Activities and exercises on how to write in Free Verse style Session 3: (1 hour) • Look into the “Limerick”/ “Haiku” style and its origins • Activities and exercises on how to write in Limerick/Haiku style Session 4: (1 hour) • Fun facts with Poetry • Bring your own poems - Share your poems with the Class and Teacher (Q&A session)
